Heritage Bank PLC. (HB PLC) is amongst Nigeria’s top commercial banks licensed by the country’s national banking regulator, the Central Bank of Nigeria. Headquartered in Lagos, the Bank was founded as Societe Generale Bank (Nigeria) (SGBN) in 1970s. The Central Bank of Nigeria revoked SGBN’s banking license in 2006 as it failed to meet the new minimum capital requirements. 

In 2012, however, the CBN re-issued SGBN’s license as regional bank after the latter challenged CBN in court. Under new leadership and a renewed banking license, SGBN was rebranded as Heritage Banking Company Limited.  Today, the HB PLC offers retail banking, corporate banking, online/internet banking, investment banking and asset management services. The Bank is facilitating Nigerians with 127 branches and 202 automated banking.
